It is HOPE that drives this. We MUST explore what that means for us.

And lest anyone somehow think that, in my last post, I have “given up” or “given in to despair”, I am also telling you that this is the opposite of the case. The very fact that I am posting these things, is a sign of the urge to fight back and HAVE FAITH and ever seek HOPE. That is why I think this issue is CRUCIAL to how we should be re-imagining and re-interpreting apocalypse and eschatology. We have a true apocalyptic situation here such as has NEVER been experienced. It is truly UNPRECEDENTED in human history. If we care for human history, our response as a church is going to be definitive. Our hope in God will have to be forged in these shadows, this “valley of the shadow of death”, a valley the likes of which we have NEVER seen. And we will have to work hard to re-articulate a coherent hope. And I believe we can. But WE have to do this.
