Climate Crisis and the list of Moral Issues

I will not say things like I’m about to say as “Comments” under a particular video or post in praise of something that I consider a moving and inspirational speech or sermon or prayer. First, I do not EXPECT that any good sermon or speech will have to say something about the Climate Crisis. There are simply too many issues and topics OTHER than that.

But when a speech or sermon makes it a point to zoom back wide enough to observe SO MANY of the pressing moral, social, and political issues of our day, and does not mention it, I feel….not OFFENDED , but frustrated; like “maybe someday soon, the Climate Crisis will be considered pressing enough and the damage being done and yet to be done (which will even worse, those “yet to come” instances) important enough and glaring enough to come as natural to a preacher or politician as any of the other more obvious moral issues like racism, economic inequality, voting rights, GLBTQ rights, and become a part of that default list.

Maybe, just maybe. Let it be real soon.
